Gender Equality
Gender is one of the crosscutting themes of European Commission in ‘Gender Action Plan of the Economic and Social Relaunch of the Northwest Provinces Project (ECOSORN)’ project. The ECOSORN project purpose is the economic and social development of the rural population in 3 north-west provinces of Cambodia in a way that benefits equitably both men and women.
Development of this gender checklist is a part of EC’s efforts to achieve its goal on gender equality in the ECOSORN project. This checklist is designed particularly to cater for the needs of ECOSORN contractors and other stakeholders. It provides guiding tips to mainstream gender in all sectors and sub-sectors in which ECOSORN contractors are engaged. It covers the broad areas/sectors such as agriculture, rural infrastructure, economic development, land accessibility, and empowerment of local communities. Each area/sector then consists of a number of sub-sectors.
This checklist provides tools for each and every sub-sector under each broad sector/area. Although, the gender checklist is particularly designed and developed for ECOSORN contractors, it can also be helpful for government line departments, NGOs and other stakeholders who work on the similar area/sector and sub-sectors.
This gender checklist is developed within the gender mainstreaming strategies and frameworks of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and other dominant bi-lateral and multi-lateral partners of RGC such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and UN Agencies. Each and every aspect of the checklist fully complies with RGC’s gender mainstreaming frameworks and strategies of specific sector/sub-sector.
